Rep. Washburne is an active member of the Indiana House of Representatives and is known as a strong advocate for liberty and limited government. He is a frequent floor debater and was voted “most likely to speak in caucus” by his Republican Party peers in 2015.
Standing Committees: Rep. Washburne currently serves as Chairman of the Courts and Criminal Code Committee and is a member of the Judiciary and Financial Institutions Committees. He previously served as Vice-Chair of the Judiciary Committee and as a member of the Committee on Government Reduction.
Interim Committees/Commissions: Rep. Washburne is currently a member of the Interim Study Committee on Corrections and Criminal Code (2016 Chair; 2017 Vice-Chair), the Interim Study Committee on Courts and the Judiciary, the Code Revision Commission, the Public Defender Commission and the Indiana Uniform Law Commission.
