Firearms

Private Ownership and Use of Firearms:

The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed…

Indiana Constitution, ARTICLE 1.  Bill of Rights.  Section 32. The people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State.

As an elected official, I will be sworn to uphold the Indiana Constitution.  Article 1, Section 32 is not a difficult provision to understand… and leaves little room for debate.  Equally important, I believe it is correct. I will support the right to use firearms in the defense of life or property. Accordingly, I support shooting sports and the right to carry concealed firearms, as these encourage good marksmanship and responsibility.  I also support hunting as a means of provision and wildlife control. Put simply, I still hold that liberty includes the liberty to keep and bear arms.
